Remember when Friday meant getting dressed up, going out, staying up ridiculously late and somehow functioning like a normal human being the next morning?
Yeah. Me neither. 😂
Friday after 60 has an entirely different energy.
Now I spend all week looking forward to Friday so I can finally do all the exciting things I’ve been dreaming about.
Like putting on my comfy clothes at 6:03 p.m.
Making a cup of tea.
Checking to make sure nobody expects me to leave the house.
And experiencing that tiny burst of pure joy when I realize I have absolutely NOTHING planned for Saturday morning.
At 25, an empty social calendar would have been devastating.
At 62?
That’s a reservation at the hottest place in town: MY HOUSE.
The dress code is stretchy.
The parking is free.
The drinks are reasonably priced.
The dog is allowed.
And if I fall asleep halfway through the entertainment, nobody cares.
I used to think getting older would make life boring.
Turns out, I just developed a much greater appreciation for peace, comfortable pants and plans that get cancelled.
Happy Friday, ladies.
May your bra come off early, your pajamas be clean, your snacks be plentiful, and nobody text you saying:
“Want to go out tonight?” 😳
